Reported from Lonely Planet, pouting sexpot Brigitte Bardot came to St-Tropez in the ’50s to star in Et Dieu Créa la Femme (And God Created Woman; 1956) and transformed the peaceful fishing village overnight into a sizzling jet-set favourite. Tropeziens have thrived on their sexy image ever since: at the Vieux Port, yachts like spaceships jostle for millionaire moorings, and infinitely more tourists jostle to admire them.

Yet there is a serene side to this village trampled by 100,000 visitors a day in summer. Out of season the Saint Tropez of mesmerising quaint beauty and ‘sardine scales glistening like pearls on the cobblestones’ that charmed Guy de Maupassant (1850–93) comes to life. Meander cobbled lanes in the old fishing quarter of La Ponche, sip pastis at a place des Lices cafe, watch old men play pétanque (a variant on the game of bowls) beneath plane trees, or walk in solitary splendour from beach to beach along the coastal path.

Best St Tropez Beaches In France

Reporting from various sources, the following is a list of best St Tropez Beaches you can visit.

1. St Tropez Beaches : Pampelonne Beach

Reporting from Telegraph, this is the beach that has fuelled St Tropez’s fame since 1955. In high summer, it might welcome some 30,000 people a day. The three-mile stretch first came to 20th-century prominence as a key site of the Allied landings in August 1944. Subsequent landings by the great, the rich, the debauched and simply anonymous sun-seekers have been scarcely less hectic.

This is another of Saint-Tropez’s trendy beach spots. With a shoreline of bathers and white sand, this beach remains busy and energetic with its flock of sun worshippers and many cafés. The locals call it decadent because this stretch of sand can be both exciting and an eye-opener. It is located about three miles from city center.

Though Pampelonne is the longest, most famous and most popular, there are other St Tropez beaches worth seeking out… precisely because they are less famous and less popular. They’re also nearer the village, mostly within walking distance.

2. St Tropez Beaches : Sentier du littoral

This coastal walk allows a glimpse into the bays and rocky paths that accent the Saint-Tropez shoreline. Sentier du littoral, which is over 18 miles long, is a pleasant hike. The trip takes several hours by foot, but it is worth the time and effort. A bus that returns to the city is available when you get into Ramatuelle.
